Did you know? (just a little charleston {hollywood} news)

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Did you know that the television show Army Wives is filmed here in Charleston?  This will be their third year filming here.  I have not watched any of the filming, but if it is anything like filming a movie, you need to see behind the scenes at last once.  We were extras in Major League 3 when it was filmed here, and it was so much fun!

For instance, did you know they did stuff like this when filming? I had no idea until we were extras what went on behind the scenes.  The two real people in this picture are my sons (the people that you only see one each of…lol). It was taken during a break while filming Major Leauge 3 in 1997 with my old film camera.

Ok, this is where I need a picture from the set of Army Wives or of someone in the cast to insert here. lol  So until they call me for pictures, I'll share some links for everyone. :)

Happy Birthday, Devin!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

img_8242-5×5-500.jpgWow, I cannot believe I have a child who is 23 years old.  Wasn't I just 23? lol This, like Brandon's picture, is not new.  What is up with that?  It's like the shoemaker's kids all over again? lol  Well, I won't give him a hard time about pictures because I know we already have plans for some soon.

Devin, this past year has brought so many changes in your life.  I am so excited for you and what the upcoming year holds for you. It's so hard to believe as I write this that this time 23 years ago I was in the hospital in labor just about to meet you for the first time.  I am so blessed for every moment that I have had you in my life. Happy Birthday!

Happy 21st Birthday, Brandon!

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

img_8516-500.jpgMy youngest son is 21 years old today. I just love him so much! This picture is not new of him. He is such a photographer's kid…he cringes when he sees the camera. LOL! Oh, who can blame him. I am the same way. So if you want to see NEW pictures of him, suggest this to him next time you see him! LOL!!! But don't tell him *I* suggested it, okay? It will be our little secret. LOL!

Brandon, I love you so much! You are such an amazing young man with so much ahead of you! Oh, and I think you are just the coolest inviting me to the bachelor pad last night to watch Robert's first college football game on television…or should I call it the big screen! Wow, I am so spoiled now! LOL! I love you! Have a great birthday!

Go Robert!

Friday, September 12th, 2008

I must confess that I have never been a huge college football fan…until now. Our neighbor and dear family friend was awarded a football scholarship.  Now I am a college football fan!  I was invited to my son's place last night (yes, I was invited to the bachelor pad. lol) and had a great time with the guys and Jerrika watching our family's favorite football player in the whole world! Go Robert! We are so proud of you!

Art Central Gallery Ltd. Fine Art Gallery

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

As we continued on our walk through Summerville today, we found a wonderful art gallery on a charming little street closed for traffic allowing us to dine at tables in the street. We talked to two of the most lovely and kind artists, Lila Gray Cauthen and Victoria Platt Ellis. They could not have been more welcoming and entertaining.  I learned more about Summerville history in that 30 minutes than I have the 17 years that I have lived here.  They were so kind to take the time and share with us.  And, Lila Gray Cauthen just made my day when she thought my son and I were a couple. Did I mention that today is my birthday, and I turned 44 years old today?  What a birthday present that was!

A Room with a View

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

img_9791-web-frame-3-450.jpg

Imagine looking out of your window and seeing this. There are so many beautiful places in the world that would make amazing views out of our windows.

The views in our life can be more than just pretty places. They can be special places. I would love to have an image from my brother's property where we used to fish and crab for years. It is a wonderful memory that we have of him. Or what about the place I grew up. It definitely wouldn't make it into a fancy magazine, but it is VERY special and full of memories to me. Let us always remember to take pictures of our special places. Maybe even find a window frame and frame the picture behind it as a beautiful work of art for our home and give yourself a room with a view.
